Position Summary

  • The Department of Clinical Sciences mission is to assure the health and productivity of animals to meet societal needs through high quality educational programs for professional veterinary medical students, graduate veterinarians, and the public through a faculty and veterinary medical center of excellence, and to advance and disseminate comparative biomedical knowledge in an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Essential Job Duties (5 maximum)
  • Training in the specific ethical, social, and legal issues and consequences of translational research as well as skill building in grant writing.

  • Research projects may include development of a veterinary ontology database, facilitating translation of veterinary EMR into common data models, and pilot projects demonstrating comparisons of human and veterinary medical conditions using EMR data analyses.

  • Presentation(s), publication(s), and grant submission(s) as well as prepare the Fellow to continue informatics and bioinformatics work independently post-fellowship.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)

Supervision: N/A
Minimum Qualifications:
  • DVM or equivalent

  • Completed an AVMA-approved veterinary residency before the start of the fellowship.

  • Fellows must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents by the time of potential start date

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in relevant field

  • Demonstrated interest in veterinary informatics

Salary Range
$20 to $25 an hour
