Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of English at Dickinson College seeks a visiting assistant professor of film and media studies with expertise in one or more of the following areas: English-language film, U.S. television, digital and social media, video games, comic books, animation, transmedia, media industries, film/media and race, fan studies, and media and the environment.

Dickinson College is a highly selective four-year independent liberal arts college with 2300 students. It is located 20 minutes west of Harrisburg and is a two-hour drive from Baltimore, Washington DC and Philadelphia. The College is known and respected for its international, interdisciplinary, and sustainability programs. Salary and benefits are competitive. All Dickinson faculty are eligible for funds for professional research and travel.

The teaching load is five undergraduate courses over two semesters: for this position, two introductory courses and three intermediate/advanced courses. At Dickinson, every member of the department teaches at all levels, and we prize innovation in both teaching and scholarship.

Candidates should have the Ph.D. in hand by July 2026, when the appointment begins.
